Suresh Raina expresses disappointment on getting limited chances in Tests: Suresh Raina, the Indian main-stay and pillar of the limited overs side expressed his disappointment at not getting sufficient chances in Tests to cement his place in the side. If you question any player regarding which format they love to play the most? The undoubted preference would be test cricket, which is also the childhood dream of most budding cricketers.
The Indian southpaw has been one of the best finishers in limited overs cricket for the country. Raina who has donned the Indian Jersey in 218 ODI’s and has thus far accumulated 5,500 runs at an average of 36 and strike-rate of almost 93. While, in T20Is Suresh has accumulated 947 runs in 44 matches at a strike rate of almost 135.

The 28-year old was quoted by Hindustan Times saying that, “I have been doing consistently well in ODIs and T20s. Even in the IPL, I scored runs. It’s true that I didn’t do well in three innings in Test cricket in 2012. It was the same story in 2015, but that doesn’t mean I am not experienced enough to be in the Test side.
Suresh Raina who is a cog-wheel of India batting line-up in colorful jersey is the only Indian to amass century in all the formats of International cricket. He further added that, “I am sure I have the ability to be a consistent performer at Test level, but it’s just a matter of getting the chance to do so. Before gearing up for the World T20, I will focus on my Test comeback.
The dashing batsman also outlined his roadmap for Test return. He said that, “Ahead of the World Twenty20, I have plenty of opportunities to play in the longer version of the game, especially in the Ranji Trophy in October-November before we tour Australia in January for an away series.
“The domestic games will give me a platform to show my caliber and stake claim for a recall to the Test side. I am desperate for this. The Test series against South Africa in India will allow me to play at least four-five Ranji games for UP.”
Suresh Raina last played in Indian whites against the Australians in Sydney where he bagged a pair. He has always been scrutinized for his weak game against the short balls which experts consider as the biggest flaw in his technique for the longer versions of the game. He made his debut in 2010 against Sri Lanka and compiled a brilliant ton on his debut as well. But, since then due to his inconsistent displays, Raina has played only 18 Tests in his career in which he averages around 26 with only one century against his name.
