Suresh Raina and Sachin Tendulkar were spotted amidst a discussion today as the former sought some help from the legend to improve his batting prowess. The batting maestro has been very active on the social media off late as he soon praised the left-hander on Twitter and wished him for the upcoming Duleep Trophy. The southpaw in reply thanked the iconic batsman for spending valuable time with him.

The batsman currently is gearing up for Duleep Trophy which is set to start from September 7. He will lead the India Blue side and look to make a lasting impression on the selectors to make his way back into the national side. Ever since he had been left out from the Champions Trophy squad, Raina has been training hard as he spent some time in Netherlands as well the former India coach Gary Kirsten. Now he is going through the gruel of domestic cricket and trying his every bit as Indian team is searching for the right combination for 2019 World Cup.

Sachin seemed happy after meeting his old teammate and expressed it on Twitter by sharing a picture where Raina can be seen taking some advice from the stalwart. His tweet read, “Always great catching up with you, @ImRaina! My best wishes for the #DuleepTrophy!

Raina’s fitting reply

Suresh has always believed in working hard and has played some of the match-winning knocks for the country. The chat with the Sachin himself must have surely motivated him to make a come back into the national side. In reply to the Master’s tweet, the 30-year-old expressed his delight and tweeted, “ #Rolemodel to a #Mentor! @sachin_rt you have always made me believe in myself! Truly cherish catching up with you & thanks for the wishes!

His reply makes it clear that Sachin has been everything to him, from a role model to mentor, and has also thanked for believing in him. Interestingly, Raina played a crucial role in India’s triumph in 2011 World Cup which helped Sachin achieve his dream he was chasing since his debut in the International arena.

The left hander narrowly missed out on his selection for Sri Lanka as he reportedly failed the fitness test and is striving hard these days to be fitter. The chances are very grim of his selection for the Australia series as Duleep Trophy will come to its conclusion on September 29. Though India will be playing against New Zealand and Sri Lanka at home after that. An impressive show in the tournament could see him making a comeback.
