Suresh Raina heads back to India to lead Lions
Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina will be joining the Lions squad and has boarded his flight back to India from the Netherlands. Raina had missed his first ever IPL match after 144 appearances in the IPL in order to be with his wife in Netherlands at the birth of their first child.
Suresh Raina became a proud father and welcomed his baby girl to the world and shared the news with his fans on the social media Twitter. Raina had tweeted:
Now, the Indian middle-order batsman tweeted another picture of him in the flight and announced that he would be returning back to India. By the look of things, Raina is set to join the Lions camp and play in the remaining fixtures of the 9th edition of the IPL.
Raina flew to Netherlands and had missed the match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Bengaluru on Saturday. Gujarat Lions were led by Brendon McCullum in the match and had suffered a crushing 144 run defeat at the hands of the home team. The Lions management would now be happy that their skipper is all set to resume his duties for the remaining two league matches.
A win for Gujarat Lions in atleast one game could give them a chance to make it to the playoffs, but considering their poor net run rate, they will secure their berth in the playoffs only if they win their remaining two matches. Gujarat Lions will the Kolkata Knight Riders on May 19 at their new home venue Kanpur and later face Mumbai Indians at the same venue.
