T20 WC 2021: 5 in-form IPL players who can be a good addition to India’s squad
Few experienced and young players have shown an incredible form in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
3. Shreyas Iyer
It would not be wrong to say that India and Capitals batter Shreyas Iyer has been unlucky. His stocks were skyrocketing before an untimely shoulder injury left him backward in the pecking order. During that time players like Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan have grabbed their chances with both hands and are now among the selected squad for the showpiece event.
Iyer is also named in the squad but as one of the traveling reserves. The Mumbai batter though has returned stronger from the injury and has looked the best batter for the Capitals. The right-hand batter has so far scored 126 in five matches and has remained unbeaten in the majority of the team’s run-chases in the IPL. Iyer’s calm demeanor at the crease and a good presence of mind in the middle has given Pant a chance to go big from the onset.
With both Yadav and Kishan failing to fire for MI, Iyer’s recent form coupled with a good amount of understanding of the UAE pitches would have been helpful for India during the T20 World Cup.
