T20 World Cup 2021: Strongest Namibia Predicted Playing XI against Afghanistan
Namibia will aim to continue its historic run further in the marquee event.
Namibia has exuded some great promise in the tournament so far. Though the team had to face defeat against Sri Lanka in their first game of the tournament, they bounced back stronger in the mega event. They secured victory against the Netherlands and Ireland to make it to the Super 12s.
Taking on Scotland in their first match of the Super 12s, Namibia displayed their dominance by restricting the team to a total of just 109 runs. The chase wasn’t a cakewalk for them either, but the team managed to secure a victory by four wickets. Heading into this match they will be keen on continuing their winning momentum.
The Gerhard Erasmus-led side will be well aware of the challenges they will need to face when they take on the strong contenders in the mega event. The team will thus aim to continue their historic run further in the marquee event.
Here is Namibia’s predicted playing XI for NAM vs AFG Match:
Openers- Craig Williams and Zane Green
Namibia will hope that their top order makes impactful contributions to the side. A strong foundation from their openers will be pivotal for the side as they take on the strong contenders of the tournament. So far in the tournament, their openers have got to a decent start but haven’t been able to capitalize on that.
Both Craig Williams and Zane Green have considerable experience under their sleeves and will be determined to perform for the side. In the previous match, Williams added 23 runs to the team’s account. Whereas on the other hand, Zane Green could manage only nine runs. He has opened the innings for the team on most occasions but came to bat one down in the previous encounter.
Middle-order – Pikky Ya France, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton
In the previous game, the team’s batting line-up experienced a collapse whilst the chase. The top order couldn’t contribute much and the middle-order also couldn’t hold the fort of the side as Scotland scalped frequent wickets.
Heading into the crucial encounters the side will want their middle-order batters to stay firm on the pitch and chip in with crucial runs. Pikky Ya France and Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton haven’t got many opportunities with the bat in the tournament.
However, on some occasions, they have taken the charge in the bowling department and will be determined to perform for the side as per the asks of the situation.
All-rounders- Gerhard Erasmus, David Wiese, Michael van Lingen, Jan Frylinck
Namibia’s all-rounders have been an exception for the team in the tournament so far. This is one department where the team has looked pretty dominating in the mega-event. The all-rounders have made crucial contributions to fashion the team’s victory so far.
Gerhard Erasmus looked in fine touch with the willow in the game against the Netherlands and Ireland. He added valuable 32 runs to the team’s account against the Netherlands. However, in the important game against Ireland, the skipper displayed his flair by hitting an impressive half-century.
David Wiese is also one of the strongest links to Namibia’s chain. He scored 66 runs against the Netherlands and added 28 runs to the team’s account. Moreover, he picked up two wickets against Ireland. In the last match as well, he made contributions with both the bat and the ball. Jan Frylinck, on the other hand, scalped two important wickets in the game against Scotland.
Bowlers- Bernard Scholtz, Ruben Trumpelmann, JJ Smit
Ruben Trumpelmann was clinical with the ball in the previous game. He will look forward to taking the momentum further in the tournament. Trumpelmann picked up three wickets in the last match at an impressive economy rate of 4.25.
JJ Smit clinched a wicket in the last encounter, and also scored important 32 runs whilst a tricky chase. Bernard Scholtz though went wickless in the previous game, has a considerable amount of experience under his sleeves, and will aim to make an impact on the side.
