T20 World Cup 2022: 5 openers who are in contention to get picked in the India squad for the tournament
With T20 World Cup 2022 just round the corner, the BCCI have a tough task of picking the right squad.
2. Prithvi Shaw
The swashbuckling right-handed opener from Mumbai is having a great season for Delhi Capitals. Over the years, Prithvi Shaw has been consistently providing Delhi with good starts in the powerplay, something most teams lack.
His good performance in the Ranji trophy helped him make it into the India back in 2018 against the West Indies where he scored a century on debut. Just when many thought Shaw was the right person Team India wanted at the top, his untimely injury saw him miss most of the domestic matches while also getting removed from India’s squad.
Ever since coming back from injury, Shaw has been knocking on the doors of the selectors with his match-winning performances. Ideally, the T20 World Cup should be the right platform for Prithvi Shaw where he can play his natural game which is similar to Virender Sehwag. Getting runs right from the very first delivery is essential in T20 cricket and that’s exactly what Shaw can do in the 20-over extravaganza.
