Team wise highest totals in ODI cricket
1. Australia 434/4 vs South Africa:
This is the famous Johannesburg ODI between the two top ODI teams. Australia batting first got to a start one had never seen happen in the history of 50 over’s cricket. On the 12th of March 2006, history was written as this was the then highest team total in ODI cricket and South Africa made it even more remarkable by the reply they led in the second innings successfully chasing down this Mount Everest high total. Adam Gilchrist and Simon Katich hit half centuries at the top but it was the man Ricky Ponting’s innings of 164 from 154 balls that made this possible. Mike Hussey played well for his 81 and in their allotted over’s Australia posted 434 on the board. South Africa won the match in closing moments with just one wicket in hand.
