During the group stages of the Champions Trophy, 2002, he was forced to leave the team due to Hepatitis B disease that inflicted him. This disease could be deadlier than AIDS but fortunately this disease has a cure unlike the latter one. Brian Lara was diagnosed from the disease thereafter but his cricketing career was on the verge of flickering away. But his zeal and fighting instinct brought him back in the game and this particular man scored the record breaking 400 runs in an innings in 2004, after his return. Also, he was a member of the Champions Trophy winning squad of the West Indies in 2004. This portrays of the fact that the people who don’t accept defeat are most unlikely to get defeated.
