Top 10 batsmen with most runs in a single World Cup
2. Matthew Hayden (Australia) 659 runs – 2007 World Cup
Matthew Hayden lit up an otherwise lacklustre tournament with his sublime hitting and world class batting. Hayden became the highest run getter in the tournament with 659 runs, narrowly missing the record set by Sachin Tendulkar. He also hit 3 centuries with a brutal 158 against the hosts West Indies. Hayden scored his runs at a strike rate of 101.67 and at an average of 73.22.
His hitting definitely helped Australia lift the world cup for 3rd straight time.
