5. Mahela Jayawardene (Sri Lanka) – 16:
Mahela Jayawardene was graceful, classy and technically gifted as a batsman. Sharply focused while batting, he had a huge appetite for runs. His talent as a batsman can never be doubted if one goes through all his achievements. Mahela had a 17-year long career for Sri Lanka in which he scored over 11,814 runs at an average of just under 50. He scored 34 centuries which includes six double centuries and one triple century. He has sixteen 150+ scores to his name with the highest being the record-breaking 374 he scored against South Africa at Colombo in 2006, falling just one run short of equaling Brian Lara’s 375. This feat brought him to the fourth position in the list of highest individual innings.
