Top 10 players with most International matches played (current players): The list below salutes the longevity of the players enlisted. These players have served their country for such a long time which is testament to their fitness, their commitment and their determination to do well for their country. Some of these will retire in near future and some will continue their journey ahead, but nonetheless they are great players in their own rights.

10. Younis Khan (Pakistan 2000-2015)

Younis Khan debuted in 2000 and has been a part of Pakistani team forever. He has played 384 matches so far and has no intention of retiring so far. He has also captained his country numerous times and won the World T20 in 2009.
9. MS Dhoni (Asia/India 2004-2015)

Current Indian skipper MS Dhoni is the only cricket captain to win all the ICC trophies so far. He has played 398 matches for India since his debut in 2004. He has led India to 2011 World Cup, 2007 World T20 and ICC Champions trophy victories. He had won many matches on his batting alone and is regarded as one the best finishers in world cricket today. He recently retired from Test cricket but continues to lead India in the shorter formats of the game.
8. Brendon McCullum (NZ 2002-2015)

Brendon McCullum has brought a revolution in the art of attacking batting with his dare-devil ways of attacking each and every bowler in first 10 overs. McCullum made his debut in 2002 and has played 406 matches for the Kiwis so far. He is also the first and only Kiwi batsman to hit a triple century in Test cricket. McCullum has also become one of the most successful captains in world cricket today and will seek to win the 2015 World Cup at home.

West Indian Chris Gayle debuted in 1999 and has played 416 international matches for West Indies. One the four batsmen to hit 2 triple hundreds and only man to hit a World Cup double hundred, Gayle has been focusing on the shortest format of the game recently and has missed quite a number of matches for the Windies in recent times. He has also captained West Indies in 2011 World Cup.

Former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori is one of the best left arm spinners in the world. Injuries to his back and leg have now curtailed his career to shorter formats only, but he is still effective as it was evident from his performance in the recent World Cup 2015 match against rivals Australia. He has 698 international wickets to his name and is on the second position in the most wicket taker list for New Zealand.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been the perfect example of the fact that you don’t need to have a conventional technique or copybook mastery to become successful. You can be great suing your own way which makes you comfortable. Chanderpaul made his debut in 1994 and has been playing for West Indies since then. Though he has not played ODIs or T20s since 2011, he continues to remain the backbone of West Indian batting in Test cricket. He has accumulated 20896 runs in 451 international matches for West Indies.
4. Tillakaratne Dilshan (SL 1999-2015)

One of the most versatile players ever to play the game, Dilshan made his debut in 1999 and has played 460 matches so far for Sri Lanka including Tests, ODIs and T20Is. He retired from Test cricket last year but has shown determination to continue representing Sri Lanka in ODIs and T20s. The 38-year-old player has made 16588 runs and picked up 145 wickets in international matches for the Lankan team.
3. Shahid Afridi (Asia/ICC/Pak 1996-2015)

Shahid Afridi recently announced retirement from ODIs after the 2015 World Cup. He has played 500 matches for Pakistan since his debut as a 16-year-old in 1996. A revelation in ODI hitting, he has a total of 10877 runs and 524 wickets in international matches. He also held the record for fastest century in ODIs until AB de Villiers broke the record.
2. Kumar Sangakkara (Asia/ICC/SL 2000-2015)

Veteran Sri Lankan player and former captain Kumar Sangakkara has played 587 matches and has made 27546 runs for Sri Lanka in international matches since his debut in 2000. Sangakkara has also led Sri Lanka after 2007 until 2012 including the finals of 2011 World Cup in India. He gave up keeping in Test cricket in 2008, but continues to keep in ODIs and T20Is. He retired from T20Is after winning the World T20 in Bangladesh recently. He has also announced retirement from ODIs after the ongoing 2015 World Cup.

Another Sri Lankan veteran and playing his last international tournament, Mahela Jayawardene made his debut in 1997 as an 18-year-old and has since then, a constant in Sri Lanka team. Jayawardene captained Sri Lanka to the 2007 World Cup finals in West Indies and along with Kumar Sangakkara and Tillakaratne Dilshan won the World T20 trophy last year. He has already retired from Test and T20Is and will retire entirely from international cricket after the 2015 World Cup. Sri Lanka will find it hard to replace the 3 greats of Sri Lanka cricket.
