Top 10 teams that have played most Tests: Test cricket has thrown up some golden memories throughout the beautiful journey. From the Melbourne days of 1877 to the gripping contest at Abu Dhabi, Test cricket has been a winner courtesy phenomenal performances across all facets. From Brian Lara’s 400 to Anil Kumble’s perfect 10, from the 1948 Headingly Test match to 2005 Ashes triumph, cricket lovers have witnessed some of the finest days through Test cricket. Here are the Top 10 teams that have played most Tests: 10. Bangladesh – 93: (Photo Source: AFP) The Asian team’s tryst with Test cricket started during the year 2000. Bangladesh have produced some fine cricketers in the form of Habibul Bashar, Tapash Baishya, Mohammed Ashraful, Shakib-al-Hasan and many others. They haven’t tasted much success in this format since their inception. Out of 93 Test matches, Bangladesh have won 7 matches and lost on 71 occasions. Zimbabwe – 97: (© Getty Images) The African nation has so far played 97 Test matches since 1992. Zimbabwe had a team to watch out for, for a considerable part of the 90s but political instability affected their cricket, with a change in management and cricketing policies their cricket sunk and till today hasn’t quite been able to cope up and rise back to the level. Zimbabwe have tasted victory in 11 Tests while they ended up on the losing side 60 times. They have registered 26 draws till today along with the highest team total of 563. 8. From the likes of Arjuna Ranatunga to Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara and Muttiah Muralitharan Sri Lankan cricket has been on the rise since 1982. Sri Lanka have played in 243 Test matches and have registered 75 wins and 88 defeats while they managed to hang in till the final day on 80 occasions. 7. South Africa – 394: South Africa. They have lost on 130 occasions while ended up with even honours 119 times. South Africa have been playing Test cricket since 1889. Their highest registered total is 682 while the lowest being 30. At present South Africa is the highest ranked Test team in the world. 6. Pakistan – 395: Pakistan. They have tasted victory on 126 occasions while they were floored 111 times. Pakistan have been involved in 158 drawn Test matches so far. This subcontinent team started playing Test cricket back in 1952 and is the second-best ranked Test team in the ICC Test team rankings today. 5. New Zealand – 403: New Zealand. New Zealand have been playing Test cricket since 1930. They have registered 690 as their highest team total while the lowest score for which they were bowled out is 26. 4. A country that has produced players like Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar is very much on top in the cricketing map. India have played 493 matches so far while they have won 125 of them and have lost out on 157 occasions and have drawn 209 matches. 3. West Indies – 510: West Indies. They have played 510 Test matches so far. “Windies” have won 164 Tests so far and faced 175 defeats. They have been involved in 170 drawn Test matches as well. 2. Australia – 782: Australia. Australia have registered 367 wins, 208 defeats and 204 drawn matches. They have notched up 758 as their highest team total, while they could just post 36 in their lowest outing. Australia have the most number of tied matches. They have been involved in 2 tied matches so far. 1. England – 965: England. England have been involved in 340 drawn Test matches. Their best total is 903 while the lowest score for which they were cleaned up is 45.
