Top 10 Teams with Most Fours in ODI Cricket: One Day International cricket has produced some memorable innings over the years. Batting has been the key for many teams. We have been honored to witness cricketing legends like Lara, Tendulkar, Ponting, Sangakkara and AB de Villiers. Their overall strike rate in ODIs is just 66.92 but still they managed to score a total of 5032 fours in One-Day Internationals. Bangladeshi batsmen have scored 272 fifties in ODIs till now and it shows the kind of attacking instinct with which they are capable of playing. They have displayed some attacking displays over the years and have scored a total of 7079 fours in 452 matches since they first started playing ODIs in the year 1983. Although Zimbabwe players have only managed to score 54 centuries in ODI cricket till now. 8. South Africa – 9944 fours: South Africa. They have amassed a total of 9944 fours in just 542 matches. It is worth noting that South Africa only started playing ODIs from 1991. They have managed to score an impressive 147 centuries and they have only played a total of 115 players in ODIs. South Africans also have the best average (33.14) and the best strike rate (78.24) in ODIs. 7. New Zealand – 10970 fours: New Zealand. The 4th best team of the world at the moment has played some exhilarating cricket over the years. It is worth remembering that New Zealand’s overall average is just 26.51 in One day cricket. 6. England – 11271 fours: England. (© Getty Images) The team that has used the most number of players (242) in ODIs has scored a total of 11271 fours so far. England has played a total of 652 ODIs so far in which they average 27.67. England’s highest individual score is 167* which is only better than Bangladesh’s 154 among the top 10 teams. Robin Smith scored 167* against Australia in the year 1993 at Birmingham. 5. West Indies – 12165 fours: West Indies. (© Getty Images) The Caribbean nation of West Indies finds itself a mid-table spot among the top 10 teams with most fours in One-Day Internationals so far. 169 West Indians have played 50 over’s cricket for their nation and in the 731 games that they have played have scored a total of 140653 runs in ODIs. With attacking batsmen like Lara, Viv Richards, Gayle and Pollard who have donned the maroon shirt for them, they had to have the number of fours that they have. 4. Sri Lanka – 12739 fours: Sri Lanka. ( © Getty Images) The Sri Lankans have scored a total of 12739 fours in the 757 matches that they have played since 1975 in ODIs. They have faced a total of 199663 balls in the ODIs and out of those 12739 balls have been dispatched for fours. Attacking batsmen like Ranatunga, De Silva, Jayasuriya, Dilshan and Sangakkara are some of the players who have or are playing for the island nation and have major contributions in the tally of boundaries. 3. Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar held the record of the highest individual score for a long time and no surprise that Pakistan is third in this list. They are second in this list but they still boast the second highest average and highest number of fifties scored by a team. Australians played the first ODI ever and are still going strong. The World Champions are always a threat and their all round performances over the years have got them a lot of plaudits. 1. India – 15922 fours: India. Players like Sehwag, Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Kapil Dev and Dravid have blessed us with some remarkable displays with the bat. Thus it is no surprise to see India leading this list with such an unbelievable number of fours scored in ODIs. Indian cricket team also has scored the highest number of centuries in ODIs -231.
