5. Simon Harmer (South Africa):

It is tough to find a place in the South African cricket team as an orthodox off-spinner, but Simon Harmer was determined to make the difference. He got his debut against West Indies at Cape Town in January this year and made most of it by picking up a 3/71 and 4/82 in the match. Harmer continued to perform well, having decent performances against Bangladesh and India in the away series. Harmer has so far impressed in patches and is better known for finding crucial breakthroughs and instigating collapses in the opposition batting order. During the year, he established himself as South Africa’s first choice off-spinner.
