Damien Fleming was the backbone of Australian attack in mid-90s, complementing Glen McGrath and Jason Gillespie with his medium pace bowling. He had taken a hat-trick on his test debut against Pakistan in 1994 and made his World cup debut against India in 1996 world cup.

Australia made 258 thanks to a brilliant 126 from Mark Waugh. India never quite got the chase going until Sachin Tendulkar was joined by Sanjay Manjrekar. Fleming was the main demolition man dismissing opener Ajay Jadeja, Vinod Kambli and Captain Azhar in quick succession. After Sachin’s dismissal for 90, he came back to finish the tail and got his 5 wickets for 36 runs.
