Top Five Run Getters in ODI 2014: In the game of cricket, it is the batsmen who attract more attention than the bowlers. They get applauded for each and every four and sixes that they hit which quite contradictory for a bowler otherwise. But, it is harsh to them as well; modern day cricket expects a batsman to score and score off any delivery that is put ahead of them. Like every year even 2014 was an eventful year for the willow holders. Bowler were plundered, thrashed and humbled around the world and the batsmen bundled on tons and tons of runs. So, here we are with the top five batsmen who had a great year and are the highest run getters in 2014.

So far in the year 2014 Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara is the highest run getter followed by compatriot and skipper Angelo Mathews. He has also hit the most number of fifties in ODI’s in 2014 and also played the most number of games. Hashim Amla stands out in this feature with the most number of hundreds in 2014. Out of the top five batsmen nobody was dismissed on duck except India’s Virat Kohli who got out on duck once this year and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara was dismissed on duck twice this year.

5. Hashim Amla (South Africa) 892

Hashim Amla made several ODI records his in the year and has justified his role as an opener and a world class batsman in the South African team. Calm and composed by nature, yet attacking in his batting approach Amla scored 892 run with his elegant stroke making and averaging 52.47 this year. He also broke the record of fastest player to reach 17 ODI Hundreds; he achieved the feat in just 98 ODI innings.
