Twitter Reaction: India thump West Indies in the World T20 warm up game
India gave a flying start to the World T20 after they beat West Indies pretty comfortably in the warm-up game yesterday. Continuing his love affair with the Eden Gardens, Rohit Sharma plundered the Windies attack with seven sixes and nine fours in his 57-ball unbeaten 98 to power India to 185 for six in front of 30,000 strong crowd.
There was no toss yesterday and both teams mutually decided that India would bat first. West Indies bowler did a good job at the start and curbed the Indians from getting off to a flier. Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane did not do well at the start. Yuvraj Singh then played a fine cameo of 31 from 20 balls (1×6, 3×4) and weaved a third wicket partnership of 89 from 46 balls with Rohit Sharma. The partnership lifted India to a comfortable position in the game. Rohit, after a hesitant start, clobbered the Windies bowlers with ease.
Unfortunately, he missed his century as a result of Jerome Taylor’s superb last over where he took two wickets, giving away only six-run and.
West Indies openers Chris Gayle and Johnston Charles , in reply, blasted Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammad Shami in the first two overs but could not carry on with the same intensity. Their wickets fell in regular successions and the team eventually tumbled for 140 runs in 19.2 overs.
Mohammed Shami (2/40), coming from a injury lay-off, bowled well and showed good pace. Pawan Negi, Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya also took two wickets apiece while Harbhajan Singh and Jasprit Bumrah got a wicket each.
As expected the Twitter was buzzing with tweets about the match.
