Twitter Reactions: Bowlers dominate for Royals as Sunrisers Hyderabad post 151
Williamson top scored for SRH with 63 runs to his name in just 43 balls.
The Rajasthan Royals had a good week off after their thrilling win over Mumbai Indians last week. They stayed in Jaipur to host the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a day game. Coming in to the game, both sides were high on confidence. While the hosts had won the close finish against MI, the visitors had an excellent couple of games in the recent days. They successfully defended two low scores of 118 and 132 in the last week.
No wonder why the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson opted to bat first against the Royals. The decision was against the trend of batting second this season. However, considering the fact that it was a day game, the decision looked legit in the 42 degree heat in Jaipur. Alex Hales got a game in the match and he opened with Shikhar Dhawan on the day.
Rajasthan Royals struck early with Dhawan getting dismissed in the third over of the match. It was K Gowtham who struck early for the Royals yet again. Kane Williamson and Alex Hales then forged a very handy partnership on the day. The two overseas stars added 92 runs for the second wicket to keep the innings going. While the runs flowed in, the flow was not as fluent as Sunrisers Hyderabad would have liked.
The partnership was broken when Hales was dismissed by Gowtham on 45 in 39 deliveries. Hales missed out on his fifty but Williamson continued to move along. He top scored for SRH with 63 runs to his name in just 43 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes. Williamson was dismissed by his fellow Kiwi teammate, Ish Sodhi. He became Sodhi’s maiden IPL wicket. After Williamson’s dismissal, the wickets started to tumble quickly.
The big hitters failed to provide the final flourish to the innings. Jofra Archer bowled exceedingly well on the day and was undoubtedly the pick fo the bowlers for the Royals along with K Gowtham. Gowtham finished with figures of 2/18, and Archer scalped 3/26 in his quota of 4 overs. The Sunrisers Hyderabad finished with 151/7 in their stipulated 20 overs.
