Twitter Reactions: Colin Munro's record ton propels New Zealand past 240
Colin Munro scored 104 off just 54 deliveries as the Kiwis posted a huge total.
New Zealand has posted a mammoth 243 runs in the third and final T20 International against Windies at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. Colin Munro was the hero once again at the top who notched up his record third T20I century. He is now the only player to have registered three tons in the shortest format of the game at the highest level. Windies bowlers looked out of ideas in front of the hosts’ batsmen and leaked runs like anything. However, the 20-over action thus far was a treat for the viewers and Twitter hailed Munro and the Kiwi batters.
The series was still alive thanks to the rain interruption in the second game of the three-match series as the visitors aimed to register their first win in the last game of the tour. The home side though won the toss and opted to bat first on a placid track much to the delight of the packed Stadium. The opening duo of Munro and Martin Guptill launched an assault on the Caribbean bowlers right from the word go. The latter especially was more brutal even as his partner got himself going with the field restrictions on.

They added a whopping 136 runs for the opening wicket as Guptill was dismissed in the 12th over. But Munro continued thrashing their opponents and reached his third century in the format. He smashed as many as 10 gigantic maximums during his stay on the 22 yards and looked greedy for more. He was kept away from the strike for a certain period leading to his century as the wickets fell at the other end. But Munro wasn’t perturbed with the happenings and reached the milestone.
Tom Bruce and the captain Kane Williamson then added some quick runs in the death after Munro’s dismissal on 104. New Zealand posted a huge total of 243 for the loss of five wickets, one of the highest totals in T20 Internationals. The total is also the first score in excess of 200 for the year 2018 and the fans would hope the format continues to entertain them all the way throughout the year.
Twitterati was up and running for the crucial game as they were in awe of Munro’s hitting.
