The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) picked a new-look Test squad for India's two-match series against the West Indies. After receiving huge backlash post the loss to Australia in the World Test Championship (WTC) final last month, selectors reacted by dropping out-of-form red-ball specialist Cheteshwar Pujara when they announced the new squad for the series in the Caribbean. Uncapped players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar were named in the side.

Jaiswal, who has an average in excess of 80 in 15 first-class games, received his maiden Test cap on July 12, Wednesday ahead of the first Test. He wasn't the only one making his Test debut though. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who has been in India's Test squad since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year, received his debut Test cap as well. The southpaw replaced Srikar Bharat, who got the opportunity to play in five consecutive Tests for India but failed to impress.

Rohit Sharma confirmed on Tuesday that Jaiswal will open the batting along with him. The in-form Shubman Gill will drop down to No. 3, a position which he suggested for himself to coach Rahul Dravid. The crucial No. 3 position has been taken care of by several greats over the years. It will be interesting to see how the talented Gill fares in taking the legacy forward.

West Indies wins the toss, opt to bat first

West Indies captain Kraigg Brathwaite called correctly at the toss and had no hesitation in opting to bat first at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica. At the toss, the opening batter felt that there could be a bit of moisture in the pitch and expected that the first hour will be hard work for his team.

For the West Indies, left-handed batter Alick Athanaze has been handed a debut. Jomel Warrican and Rahkeem Cornwall have been picked as the two spinners in the home team's playing XI.

Here is how Twitter reacted to Jaiswal and Kishan's debut
