'Tickets got sold out when nobody could open the app, how?' - Fans express disappointment over BookMyShow website crash during WC ticket sales
The ODI World Cup will begin on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
International Cricket Council (ICC) along with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) formed a partnership with Mastercard, where it was decided that a certain portion of the ODI World Cup tickets for India games would be made available on August 29 to Mastercard holders. BookMyShow, the official ticketing partner of BCCI however failed to meet the target as a lot of fans have expressed their disappointment on various social media sites.
After the initial dilemma, BookMyShow finally managed to get control of the situation but not for very long. Fans were made to wait in queue, where the timer kept on increasing and once again, it disappointed the people waiting to buy tickets for respective matches. Meanwhile, only a certain section of the tickets were slated to get sold on August 29 and even so, BookMyShow has faced the difficulty. This proves the craze among the Indian fans for the upcoming ODI World Cup, while the platform will have to get ready before all the tickets go live.
Meanwhile, coming to the Indian team, the Rohit Sharma-led side is currently undergoing practice sessions in Alur, Karnataka ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup. The team will play their first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 and will next take on Nepal in their second league game.
Ahead of that, head coach Rahul Dravid has confirmed that stumper-batter KL Rahul will be missing the first two India matches of the tournament. He added that the 31-year-old is improving but isn’t match-ready. In his absence, Ishan Kishan is very likely to feature in the playing XI and that might complicate a few things. His batting position is one of the most talked about topics at the moment.
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer looks fit and is expected to feature in the playing XI against Pakistan. He was in fine touch in Alur and hence, India’s number four problem seems solved at the moment.
