'World Cup mission impossible' - Fans react on Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal's exclusion from ODI World Cup squad
India announced a 15-member squad for the World Cup on September 5.
Indian Captain Rohit Sharma and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar announced the ODI World Cup squad in a press conference on September 5. As was confirmed by Agarkar before the start of the Asia Cup, the World Cup squad looks largely similar to the Asia Cup one, with Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna being left out as expected.
In the meantime, KL Rahul, the star Indian batter, who has been undergoing rehabilitation at NCA, has also secured a place in the squad and appears ready to make his comeback to strengthen the Indian middle order. According to Agarkar, KL is fully fit and has already demonstrated his fitness by batting and keeping for 50 overs in practice matches.
However, the exclusion of certain players has been the highlight of the selection news, including Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal. Despite having an impressive record in ODIs, Samson has been left out of the squad, and Chahal, despite delivering many memorable spells for India, has also failed to secure a spot in the team. The team has opted for Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul over Sanju, and Kuldeep Yadav over Yuzvendra Chahal.
