Mumbai Indians beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 14 runs in Hyderabad.
It has been a roller-coaster week of cricket so far in the ongoing IPL 2023 mega carnival. Earlier today, In match no. 25 between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the host skipper, Aiden Markram won the toss and chose to bat first considering the dew factor. However, MI made a brisk start to their innings with openers Ishan Kishan and skipper Rohit Sharma as they posted 41 runs for the first wicket in just 4.4 overs.
Thereafter, the Australian all-rounder Cameron Green held one end for the visitors and tried to build a partnership with Ishan Kishan. However, soon after Kishan's departure, Mumbai lost Suryakumar Yadav cheaply courtesy of a stunning catch by the SRH skipper, Markram off Marco Jansen's bowling. Just when Hyderabad were clawing back into the match, Green showed his power-hitting class.
Though he took time to read the pitch and the conditions, the Aussie perfectly paced his innings to put MI in a commanding position. Youngster Tilak Varma too played a brilliant cameo (37 off 17) for his side and stitched a crucial partnership of 56 runs. In the end, Green's unbeaten 64-run knock helped MI to post a mammoth total of 192 runs.
In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad seemed to crumble under the huge run-chase pressure. Last match's centurion Harry Brook fell cheaply for just 11 runs. Furthermore, Behrendorff and Chawla completely derailed the hosts in their run chase by taking two wickets each at regular intervals while Green also showed his bowling prowess and took one wicket along with Arjun Tendulkar who claimed his maiden IPL wicket of Bhavaneshwar Kumar to finish the proceedings.
Interestingly enough, MI's Impact Player, Riley Meredith provided an important breakthrough in the set batter Mayank Agarwal, who could have changed the complexion of the match had he stayed till the end. In totality, it turned out to be a collective bowling display by the Mumbai Indians as they decimated the Sunrisers Hyderabad to clinch an emphatic victory by 14 runs.
Consequently, Sunrisers Hyderabad's loss to Mumbai Indians, cricket aficionados triggered a meme fest on Twitter.
