'Most brutal innings by CSK' - Twitter hails CSK batters as Yellow Army demolishes RCB bowlers
Royal Challengers Bangalore need 227 runs to win against the MS Dhoni-led side.
In the ongoing IPL 2023 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, after winning the toss, RCB skipper, Faf du Plessis chose to bowl first. The ploy seemed to have paid off for the hosts initially as the Kings suffered an early jolt in the form of opener Ruturaj Gaikwad on the score of 16 runs on the board. Thereafter, dashing Indian batter, Ajinkya Rahane played a blazing cameo of 37 runs off just 20 deliveries to accelerate the run rate for the visitors. Notably, during his stay at the crease, he had an emphatic strike rate of 185.
While partnering him from the other side, Devon Conway put up stellar batting fireworks with his magnificent fifty (83 runs off 45 balls) to propel CSK to 170 by the time he departed, courtesy of a brilliant yorker from Harshal Patel to end his innings. He smacked six sixes and fours in his innings. But the run carnage still continued, as the youngster, Shivam Dube's blitzkrieg continued even after Conway's wicket.
It is worth mentioning that Dube took just 25 balls to get to his half-century. Albeit, shortly, his innings ended while getting caught at the boundary as Mohammed Siraj made no mistake to complete a brilliant catch off the ropes. Post his departure, Ambati Rayudu, Moeen Ali and Ravindra Jadeja made contributions to help CSK to reach a mammoth score of 226 to conclude the first innings.
Meanwhile, fans could not keep their calm and took to social media to share their reactions on how the match and CSK's batting panned out so far.
