The second T20I between the West Indies and India continued in spectacular fashion. After the Rovman Powell-led West Indies ran away with a four-run victory in the first T20I, the side got off to a brilliant start in the second T20I of the series as well.

The Indian team came in to bat after winning the toss and got off to a subpar start. Openers Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill once again failed to make an impact on the game as Kishan was sent packing for 27 runs, with Gill only managing to score seven runs before he was sent back to the pavilion.

Furthermore, things went from bad to worse for the visitors after Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for just one run. Star batter Sanju Samson failed to make an impact as well, scoring seven runs in just as many deliveries. Samson missed out on yet another opportunity provided to him. As the Indian top order crumbled once more, the innings were stabilised by youngster Tilak Varma.

Playing his second international game, Varma scored a brilliant half-century, amassing 51 runs in 41 balls. He helped the Indian team post a respectable total on the board in the first innings. With skipper Hardik Pandya’s late push of 24 runs in 18 deliveries and Axar Patel adding 14 runs to the total, India posted 152 on the board in the first innings.

The Windies put forth an excellent performance with the ball as they wreaked havoc on India’s batting attack again. Akeal Hossein and Alzarri Joseph continued their form and took two wickets each, conceding 29 and 28 runs in the four overs they bowled. Furthermore, Romario Shepherd also took two wickets, conceding 28 runs in three overs.
