Mumbai Indians Women beat UP Warriorz Women by 42 runs in Match 14 of WPL 2024.
After a crushing loss against Delhi Capitals Women, Mumbai Indians Women bounced back in style in the ongoing Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 beating UP Warriors by 42 runs in Match 14 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. After opting to bat first, MI posted a good score of 160/6 in their allotted 20 overs riding on crucial knocks from Nat Sciver Brunt (45 off 31), Harmanpreet Kaur (33 off 30) and Amelia Kerr (39 off 23).
In reply, MI bowlers were all over UP as they had them reeling at 17/3 after six overs. Saika Ishaque (3/27) and Nat Sciver Brunt (2/14) starred with the ball restricting UP to 118/9 in 20 overs. As a result, MI won the match by 42 runs and climbed to the second spot on the points table with four wins from six matches.

1. Chamari Athapaththu spins a web around Mumbai openers
The right-arm spinner got her team off to a brilliant start by dismissing both MI openers inside the first four overs. She first got rid of the dangerous Hayley Matthews getting her caught at mid-on. In her second over, she made Yastika Bhatia hit one straight to deep square leg in the fourth over. As a result, MI were left reeling at 17/2 after 3.4 overs.

2. Rajeshwari Gayakwad breaks crucial stand between Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver Brunt
After losing two early wickets, captain Harmanpreet and Sciver-Brunt stabilized the MI innings with their crucial 59-run stand off 46 balls. However, they couldn’t extend it ahead as Rajeshwari Gayakwad came to UP’s rescue by destroying Sciver Brunt’s stumps. On the other hand, Saima Thakor dismantled Harmanpreet’s stumps to leave MI on 104/4 after 14.1 overs.
3. S Sajana grabs a stunner on the boundary to dismiss Sophie Ecclestone
After playing a crucial cameo with the bat, Sajana also shone in the field for MI by taking two catches. One of them was an absolute stunner as she dived to her full-length running from long on to complete one of the best catches of the season to dismiss Sophie Ecclestone. Sajana also picked a wicket during the game dismissing Saima Thakor in the last over.
