Twitter Reactions: Dominant Bangladesh register yet another easy win
A fantastic all-round performance from the Tigers helped them register a 7-wicket win and they take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
After an awe-inspiring performance in the Asia Cup, Bangladesh are looking extremely confident and the way they rode past Zimbabwe in the first two ODIs is a testament. A fantastic all-round performance from the Tigers helped them register a 7-wicket win and with this, they have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
The openers failed to give a good start for Zimbabwe batting first, but Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams did a fantastic job in the middle order to set the tone. The duo added 77 runs for the 3rd wicket with Taylor completing a well-deserved half-century. After getting past the 50 mark, Taylor upped the ante as well.
With support coming from Sikandar Raza in the middle overs, Zimbabwe were eyeing a total in excess of 280. But Mohammad Saifuddin came in the middle overs and took some crucial wickets to sabotage the run flow. The lower order failed to give any notable contributions and the visitors fell well short of what they would’ve wanted.
Zimbabwe registered 246 runs in their 50 overs losing seven wickets. Saifuddin chipped in with a brilliant spell of 3/45 with Mortaza, Mustafizur, Mehidy Hasan and Mahmudullah taking a wicket each.
Liton and Kayes blow the visitors away
Chasing a below-par total on a good batting surface, the hosts were never really going to have a problem with the Chittagong fans in full volume. Imrul Kayes and Liton Das made the most of the field restrictions in the first 10 overs and stormed their way to a scintillating 100-partnership.
Both players completed fifties but Liton Das fell on 83, missing out on a well-deserved hundred. They added 148 runs for the first wicket and ensured the team had no trouble further in chasing the total. Imrul Kayes added another 59 runs with Mushfiqur Rahim, which made the final few runs a mere formality.
Imrul Kayes too fell short of a well-deserved hundred as Sikandar Raza dismissed him on 90. Mohammad Mithun joined Rahim at this point and the duo batted sensibly to take their side over the line.
