Twitter Reactions: England pocket ODI series 3-0
Sri Lanka went further downhill in the series after they inflicted a massive 122 runs loss at the hands of England at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. England had a pretty easy outing today. Batting first they posted a tough 324/7 with the help of solid knocks from Joe Root and Jos Buttler. Both played out the Ineffective Lankan bowlers without breaking any sweat, striking attractive half-centuries.
In reply, the Sri Lankans found it difficult to handle the England bowling attack and surrendered meekly. Fast bowlers David Willey and Liam Plunkett shared 7 wickets among themselves as the Lankans folded for just 202. Dinesh Chandimal (53 from 66 balls) was the lone bright spot for the Lankans today.
The English side had a great start after being put into bat. The game was initially halted by the rains for 25 minutes but the new opening pair of Jason Roy and James Vince put up a breezy 67 from the first wicket. The hosts then experienced a small slump before Root and Buttler took charge and took England to a commanding position.
After beginning badly, The Lankans showed some resistance before falling one after another like nine-pins. Chandimal tried his best from one end but had no partners left eventually. Davis Willey (4/34) and Liam Plunket (3/44) were at their best today and played huge roles in ensuring their team clinched the series 3-0.
