Pakistan, on Saturday, November 20, defeated Bangladesh by eight wickets at the iconic Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Babar Azam and Co. have looked clinical and have managed to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The Tigers, in the meantime, lost their first bilateral T20I series after the wins over Zimbabwe, Australia and New Zealand earlier this year.

Shanto plays a lone hand for Bangladesh

After electing to bat first, the Tigers started off poorly as they scored 108 for seven in 20 overs. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim jr. picked up the wickets of Saif Hassan and Mohammad Naim respectively. Thereafter, Najmul Hossain Shanto and Afif Hossain’s 46-run partnership injected momentum into the innings. Afif started his knock with a six off Shaheen.

But he scored 20 at under a run-a-ball. Mahmudullah also hit one four down the ground, but perished to Shadab in the 13th over. Shadab got the big wicket of Shanto, who made 40 off 34 with five fours. Nurul Hasan couldn’t make much of an impact either. Shadab and Shaheen were the standout bowlers as they picked up two wickets apiece. Shoaib Malik went wicketless, though.

Fakhar Zaman steps up for the visiting team

Pakistan made a steady start to their run-chase as they scored 27 runs in the powerplay. Moreover, they also lost the wicket of Babar, who got out to Mustafizur Rahman. The Tigers’ bowlers would have been fairly happy with proceedings, but Pakistan were hardly under the pressure of required run-rate. Mohammad Rizwan was a tad cautious, but guided the Men in Green to safer shores.

He stayed unbeaten on 39 runs off 45 balls with the help of four fours. He also stitched together a partnership of 85 runs for the second wicket off 13 overs. Zaman was the more attacking of the two as he made 57 off 51 with the help of two fours and three sixes. He went on to play until the very end as Pakistan chased the target down in 18.1 overs with as many as 11 balls to spare in their chase

Here’s how the netizens reacted to Pakistan’s win in Dhaka
