In a test match that kept having twists and turn each day, with both India and Australia refusing to bow down, no result would’ve been better than a draw. The series is now levelled at 1-1 as both sides travel to Dharamshala for the final test.

At the start of the day, only two results seemed possible: a draw or an Indian win. Australia resumed from their overnight score of 23/2. Captain Steve Smith and Matt Renshaw tried to hang in for a while. Just when the session was nearing the end, both got out in consecutive overs to hand India an edge.

While Ishant Sharma got the better of his good mate Renshaw, Jadeja again managed to outfox Smith. At 63/4 with a trail of 89 runs and the man in form Smith back to the hut, India would’ve fancied their chances to clinch the game. Peter Handscomb and Shaun Marsh somehow batted on till lunch.

What followed was a sensational match saving partnership by the pair. Australia didn’t lose a single wicket in the second session. Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja toiled hard to effect a dismissal but failed to get any breakthrough.

While Shaun Marsh played a well defined knock of 53, it was Peter Handscomb who anchored the innings with a brilliant 72 not out. Both combined for a partnership of 124 runs for the fifth wicket. By the time, Marsh and Glenn Maxwell got out, it was too late to have any sort of impact on the game.

Eventually, Virat Kohli shook hands as the match ended in a draw. Both teams had their own share of positives to take for the match. While the hosts would glad to affect a major turnaround on Day 4, Australia would be happy to have saved this test match after the early slump today.

Ravindra Jadeja was rewarded the Jana Bankable player of the game for a splendid all round performance while Cheteshwar Pujara was deserving announced the man of the match for a spectacular knock.

Here are some of the amazing Twitter reactions that took place during the course of the day:
