Twitter Reactions: Tamim and Mushfiqur lead the Bangladesh fightback
Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim led the fightback for Bangladesh on the second day’s play as the hosts took a sliver of the upper hand on the second day’s play of the first Test between Bangladesh and England at Chittagong. What was more impressive was the fact that the Bangladeshis seemed to be very articulated in their approach as they impressed with some brilliant and patient batting.
While this highlights their Test match batting acumen, Michael Vaughan may well be in a position to take his words back following some of the comments he made at the close of the ODI series which the Brits claimed with relative difficulty. However, in the longest format of the game, it will only be a matter of time before Bangladesh is a force to reckon with.
The hosts had some issues initially when they faced a few problems battling against Moeen Ali. The 28-year old England off-spinner began to create problems for the hosts when he dismissed Imrul Kayes and Mominul Hasan in the same over. However, in spite of the setback, the hosts managed to cover the leakage in their batting unit with some impressive and patient batting, something they have seldom exhibited in recent times in ODIs.
England’s spin trio of Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali, and Gareth Batty kept taking wickets in tandem but that did not stop the Bangladesh batsmen from scoring their runs and chipping away at the 293-run lead England had managed to muster. Mushfiqur Rahim was one of the most impressive batsmen on the day as he smashed his way to a brilliant 48, a knock that exuded character. That said, here are some of the best tweets from all over the globe.
