Twitter ridicules Imam-ul-Haq after dropping Rohit Sharma's sitter
Rohit was playing on 14 then and is looking good for a half-century now.
Pakistan posted a total of 237 runs after opting to bat first against India thanks to Shoaib Malik‘s valiant 78-run knock. The score though looks under par given the fact that the pitch in Dubai plays much better under the lights. They needed their bowlers to pick early wickets to put the opposition under some serious pressure. But the bowlers always need their fielders to support them which didn’t happen once again for the Men in Green as Imam-ul-Haq an easy catch of Rohit Sharma.
The Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma looked at ease from the word go. The new-ball duo of Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi couldn’t make much of a difference as they played some delightful strokes to put their opponents in trouble. The former especially was severe on anything loose and once again took the charge even as the skipper and his partner looked to take his time early on.
Chance goes begging
Pakistan wanted early breakthroughs to put India under the pressure and when a realistic chance came, their fielders let them down. The sixth over of the innings saw Imam-ul-Haq dropping one of the easiest catches he will ever get. Shaheen Afridi was bowling well and troubling India’s captain. After bowling a series of pace deliveries, the left-arm pacer slowed one down swiftly to catch the batsman by surprise.
Rohit played a drive early in the anticipation and the ball went in the air straight to the cover-fielder where Imam was stationed. The bowler had almost started to celebrate only to see his teammate drop the sitter. Imam just couldn’t get rid of the ball and failed to catch even on the rebound to leave his captain Sarfraz Ahmed frustrated.
Pakistan dropped a couple of catches off the same bowler in the previous game as well which almost cost them the game. This time around it is Rohit who was batting on 14 when dropped and is still playing now looking good for yet another half-century.
