Twitter set on a settling mode as Bhuvneshwar Kumar plays a crucial supporting role
Here's how Twitter reacted to Bhuvneshwar Kumar's gutsy knock.
The first Test match between South Africa and India has already witnessed many shifts and turns in the opening days of the three-match Test series. After a doing a wonderful and admirable job with the ball in hand, Bhuvneshwar Kumar had to do another big task with the bat in hand.
He joined the crease when the scoreboard read 92-7, a position where his team was looking to be in a very disappointing situation. But the bowler who has the ability to contribute with the bat is played a calm and supporting hand to all-rounder Hardik Pandya who was striking the ball in his very his aggressive fashion.
Match Story so far
South Africans were reduced to some early blows, after their skipper oped to bat first. But the experienced pair of Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers stitched together a crucial hundred run partnership that brought the hosts back into the game. But the Indian bowlers kept picking up wickets from one terminal and bowled the opposition for 286 runs.
The Proteas bowling attack led by Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Kagiso Rabada and Vernon Philander reverted the visitors to a dismal position as they reduced India for 92-7. The first innings score posted by the Africans looked like a mountain to climb at that stage of the game.
A patient and quiet knock
Bhuvneshwar definitely struggled in the initial phase of his innings but showed a great amount of resistance and his capability has been depicted while facing some of the class Proteas fast bowlers. He scored his first runs of the Test match on the 34th ball of his inning, but then got his eye settled in for the rest of the stay at the wicket. Before the tea break on day two of the first Test match, he scored 24 runs and more importantly battled hard for 65 balls when the ball was doing too much.
He eventually got dismissed on 24 runs off a great delivery bowled by Morne Morkel. But his knock was hugely acknowledged by fans of the game on Twitter and here are the tweets:
