Twitterati slam Michael Clarke for mispronouncing Adam Voges’ name

During the Australia vs South Africa Perth Test while almost everyone focused on how the South Africans were in complete dominance as 21-years-old Kagiso Rabada bowled an impressive spell of fast bowling, testing the pace loving Aussie batsmen. A section of fans were irked by former Australian skipper Michael Clarke pronouncing Adam Voges’ surname incorrectly.

While in the commentary box Clarke repeatedly mispronounced Voges as Vogue. Commentating in only his second Test match ever Pup later accepted that he wasn’t aware of the exact pronunciation for Voges’. What made a lot of people wonder was the fact that both the cricketers were a part of the team together and shared the dressing room in seven Test matches before Clarke retired.

The fans who were watching the Channel Nine telecast of the game pointed out his mistake on Twitter and not just that also brought to his notice that he was calling JP Duminy incorrectly as well.

In the last inning of the game a lot was expected from Adam Voges who had a bradmanesque average at one point in his career but he lasted just 12 deliveries in the second inning scoring a single run after having scored 27 in the first inning. It was Kagiso Rabada who dismissed him in both the innings.

This time round it was a superb contest as he beat him repeatedly before the scalp. Rabad got Voges out on the fourth ball of the 15th over after testing him on all the previous deliveries. The over went like:

1st ball – Rabada beats the outside edge
2nd ball – Beats the edge again
3rd ball – Got him to drive this time
4th ball – Finally gets the edge
