Vijay Hazare Trophy Day 7 review
The day 7 of the Vijay Hazare Trophy was an exciting day. There were fine bowling performances on display as most of the teams were bowled out for a sub-standard score. Irfan Pathan bowled an inspiring spell while MS Dhoni played a short entertaining cameo. Rahane’s efforts went in vain as Mumbai lost to Rajasthan.
1. Pathan brothers and Swapnil Singh rattle Tripura
Swapnil Singh (5/25) along with Irfan Pathan (2/8) and Yusuf Pathan (3/24) wrecked the Tripura batting lineup to bundle them out for a paltry score of 61. Chasing the small total Baroda also lost a couple of quick wickets but Rayudu (31*) and Deepak Hooda (11) took them past the target with ease.

2. Shreyas Gopal deceives Kerala
Leg spinner Shreyas Gopal bamboozled the Kerala batsmen to bowl them out for just 49 runs. Aravind Sreenath and Vinay Kumar shared 4 wickets between them. In reply, Karnataka lost just one wicket and comfortably chased the target without even breaking a sweat.

3. Vidarbha crush Andhra
Andhra showed a very disappointing batting performance as they were wrapped up for just 87 batting first. A Karnewar (4/13) and India pacer Umesh Yadav (3/16) were the chief destroyers. In reply, both the Vidarbha openers JM Sharma (47) and FY Fazal (44) remained unbeaten as Vidarbha finished their wonderful day on the field with a 10-wicket victory.

4. Jharkhand derail Railways
The Jharkhand batsmen played risk-free cricket today with almost everyone on the top five of the batting line up contributing modestly to the team total of 211 in 45 overs. MS Dhoni played an aggressive knock of 37 while Saurabh Tiwary (49) was their best batsman. In reply, the Railways struggled to cope with the Jharkhand bowler as they were bowled out for just 96 runs. SK Singh (4/15) was the most effective bowler. Ankit Dabas (2/20) and Shahbaz Nadeem (2/21) played supportive roles. Monu Kumar and Vikash also snapped one wicket each.

5. Jammu & Kashmir tumble against Gujarat
J&K failed to chase an easy target of 188 runs as they fell 36 runs short. Parvez Rasool (65) and Sandeep Singh (44) tried their best, but their effort couldn’t help their team win the match. HP Patel (4/28) was the best bowler for Gujarat. Earlier, Omar Alam (3/30) and Waseem Raza (3/38) shook the Gujarat side as they were eventually bowled out for just 187.

6. Delhi overhaul Maharashtra
Delhi had no problems in chasing a relatively easy target of 195 runs set by Maharashtra. Manan Sharma and Pawan Negi shared six of Maharashtra’s wickets between them. In reply, Dhruv Shorey and Milind struck fluent half-centuries to guide Delhi to victory.

7. Umang Sharma helps Uttar Pradesh breeze past Goa
Umang Sharma (85) blasted a six for the winning runs as Uttar Pradesh faced no problem in chasing down the 219 runs target set by Goa. Rinku Singh (51) played a good supportive role. Earlier, Goa with the help of half-centuries from Sagun Kamat (57) and Reagan Pinto (66) managed a competitive score of 218 on the scoreboard. Shadab Jakati with three wickets was Goa’s only effective bowler.

8. Tamil Nadu chase down target comfortably
TN won the toss and put Hyderabad to bat. Tanmay Agarwal (105) utilized the opportunity and smacked an impressive century. But, other batsmen were not as successful as Agarwal as Hyderabad could only reach 230 runs. Veteran bowler L. Balaji (3/33) was the most successful of the TN bowlers. Chasing 231, TN took a cautious approach and finished the game by overhauling the target with 3 wickets in hand.

9. Assam fails to defend a respectable total
Amit Verma’s brilliant 78 went in vain as Assam bowlers could not defend a highly competitive total of 262. Amit Pacchara (75) turned out to be the hero for the Services side. DG Patania 5/54 of the Services was the star bowler of the day.

10. Ajinkya Rahane’s magnificent ton in vain
The duo of Rajat Bhatia (94) and Ashok Menaria (86) nullified the Mumbai bowlers to chase the challenging target of 302 with 5 wickets in hand and one overs to spare. Earlier, Ajinkya Rahane batted in sublime form and hit 114 runs. Pankaj Singh (4/55) and Abhishek Nayar (2/28) were the top performers with the ball for their respective teams Rajasthan and Mumbai.

11. SS Mandal fails to inspire Bengal
MP won the toss and put Bengal to bat who managed a decent total of 262 runs on the scoreboard. SS Mandal batted brilliantly for his knock of 88 runs, but other batsmen couldn’t do anything significant apart from Eswaran (45) and Sudip Chatterjee (31). Chasing the total, Madhya Pradesh rode on the back of half-centuries from Rajat Patidar and Harpreet Singh Bhatia and Anand Singh to chase down the target pretty comfortably with five wickets in hand.
