Virat Kohli discloses team's plans against the Proteans today
The team that has the most composure will have a better chance of winning the game: Kohli
Indian skipper Virat Kohli, after facing defeat against the Sri Lankans, came up with his strategies against the South African side for their fixture tomorrow at Kennington Oval, London. Both sides face a virtual semi-finals scenario as both the sides have won one and lost one. India and South Africa currently have two points in the bank. India holds the top position in the group by the virtue of their good run-rate.
India won their first match against their arch-rivals Pakistan by a handsome margin of 124 runs. Yuvraj Singh, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were all amongst the runs in the match. Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed three wickets in the match while Jadeja and Pandya shared a couple of wickets each.
India was on course for yet another victory after posting a total of 321 in from of the Sri Lankans. Shikhar Dhawan and MS Dhoni starred in India’s reply after losing the toss. But the innings from the likes of Kusal Mendis, Gunathilaka, Matthews and Gunaratne shocked the Indian bowlers as they appeared hapless in front of the inexperienced Sri Lankan attack.
Kohli stressing on maintaining composure
Looking at the must-win game tomorrow, Kohli stated the importance of the match tomorrow. “It’s a very important game for us. It has a lot to offer to both the teams. Both the teams will play with 120 % commitment and with full passion,” described Kohli in the press conference ahead of the high-voltage game.
“I think you need to have a good balance, being passionate and competitive about the game but at the same time, not getting over excited, treat the game as normal as you can. I think the team that treats the game as normal as they can is the team that’s in a better position to get the right result.” added Kohli. The Indian star revealed that they would look to maintain their composure in the match.
“A lot of times, teams come and they want to do something special and end up messing the game in important situations. The team that has the most composure will have a better chance of winning the game. Composure will be the biggest word for tomorrow,” concluded Kohli
