Virat Kohli hugs Rohit Sharma in delight after the latter wins the game for India in the super over

After winning the match on the last ball of the super over, team India, who have now gained an unassailable lead over New Zealand in the five-match T20I series burst into celebration. The hero of the match, Rohit Sharma, was seen celebrating the victory with other players in a way that was loved by the fans. Moreover, the scene which captured Virat Kohli hugging Rohit in delight was a treat to watch for everyone.

Batting first, India had set New Zealand a target of 180 runs to chase in their quota of 20 overs. And, the Kiwis rose to the occasion and their batting attack led by Kane Williamson, managed to tie the scores, taking the match into the super over. India were set a target of 18 runs in the super over to chase which seemed too tough for the Indian batsmen until the last two deliveries.

With 10 runs required off 2 balls, Rohit Sharma tonked Tim Southee for two consecutive sixes helping India to get over the line. The scenes after the win were really mesmerising. Almost the entire squad rushed on to the field to congratulate Rohit for his inning. And, during this, one thing happened that won the hearts of the millions of Indian fans, who were watching the game with their eyes tucked in.

The heart-winning moment

Rohit Sharma, the hero of the win was seen hugging the Indian captain, Virat Kohli. And the gesture was returned by Kohli, who was all pumped up after the win. Rohit also hugged his batting partner, KL Rahul in a fashion that was loved by the fans. It was a special win for team India as it was their first-ever super over in the T20Is. The previous tied game for India was against Pakistan in 2007 when bowl-out decided the result.

Team India, with a lead of 3-0 in the five-match series, will be eyeing to be ruthless in the series now. With the next match all set to take place on the 31st of January, in Wellington, Kohli and his army of match winners will be looking to breeze through the New Zealanders and get momentum on their side, going into the ODI and Test series.
