Team India beat England 4-0 in the recently concluded Test series and all the players have been widely praised for their efforts along with skipper Virat Kohli who has led his team from the front. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Anurag Thakur was also mighty pleased with the performance of the team termed it a ‘historic win’.

“My heartfelt congratulations to team India, Virat Kohli has led the team well, winning the series 4-0. It is a historic win. I am glad to see young players like KL Rahul, Karun Nair and Jayant Yadav performing extremely well under pressure this clearly shows that India is truly no. 1 in cricket today,” Thakur was quoted by DNA as saying.

Two players who recently toured Australia with the India A team, Jayant Yadav and Karun Nair made their Test debuts in the series and capitalized on the opportunity to make an impression. Jayant put up an all-round show in the three matches he played while Karun took his time and notched up an unbeaten 303 to break a list of records to make sure the job of the selectors becomes that much more difficult once Ajinkya Rahane and Rohit Sharma are fit and back.

Thakur commended Indian legend Rahul Dravid’s contribution in preparing the youngster for the bigger challenges. “Rahul Dravid has done exceedingly well for polishing these cricketers and preparing them for a bigger platform. I think it is helping them to perform in the international platform,” he said.

The BCCI is facing a tough time with utmost scrutiny on all its moves and operations by the Lodha panel and the Supreme Court but Thakur said that despite the difficulties they have ensured the players don’t face the burn. “BCCI faces challenge every day, but we try not to put pressure on the players or on the management. BCCI has been taking all that pressure, but we are giving the team with best of the facilities, providing best coaches,” he said.
