Virat Kohli's 'leave India' comment was twisted to suit the agendas, says Mohammad Kaif
Kohli, on Thursday, also came up with a clarification on his comments.
Virat Kohli’s ‘leave India’ row has taken the entire media by storm over the last few days. Replying to a fan who said that he likes Australia and England cricketers better, Virat Kohli asked him to leave the country if that was the case. There were several opinions on these statements ever since then. Fans lashed out at him and the BCCI also responded regarding the same.
The Indian skipper had to justify his words and noted that he had the ‘Freedom of Choice’. He also went on to say that trolling wasn’t for someone like him. While many lashed out at the 30-year-old, the former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif came out in his support.
Unfair targetting of Virat Kohli
Kaif said that people targetting Virat Kohli were very unfair. He took it to the micro-blogging site Twitter to voice out his opinions on the matter. The 37-year-old felt that Kohli’s statements were misconstructed. He wrote that people twisted the statements made by the skipper according to whatever suited their agenda.
Furthermore, he has backed these statements up by citing an example that Virat Kohli has publicly admired sportsmen from other countries several times in the past. It was also written that those words were said out only in a particular context. Mohammad Kaif concluded by saying that mischievous targetting of people is a norm for a few.
“The unfair targeting of Kohli just shows how statements are twisted according to whatever suits the agenda of people. He has publicly in the past admired sportsman from across the globe & his statement clearly was in a certain context. But mischievous targeting is a norm for a few,” the Uttar Pradesh cricketer wrote in his tweet.
Virat Kohli has opted for rest at the moment and isn’t a part of the T20I side that is playing against the Windies. He will be back in action later this month for the tour of Australia.
