Kohli had earlier condemned the attack that took away the lives of 22 people and also said the team should not feel distracted by the same as they are there to play the tournament.
Indian captain Virat Kohli was seen speaking with security personnel in London before leaving the team hotel for the warm-up match against New Zealand in London on Sunday. In the wake of the Manchester Arena attack which rocked the country, security has been tightened across the England.
BCCI’s official handle posted the picture of the Indian skipper interacting with the security personnel on social media. Kohli was captured smiling and sharing a light conversation with the security personnel. Kohli condemned the attacks
Kohli had earlier condemned the attack that took away the lives of 22 people and also said the team should not feel distracted by the same as they are there to play the tournament.
“What happened here a few days back was really saddening and very disturbing for everyone who saw it. And especially a place like England, to say the least, has not had many of these incidents happen in the past,” Kohli said in London.
“So, yeah, I mean, for a few people it can be sort of a nervous time. But I don’t think as a squad you have time to focus on those factors, because eventually you understand that you’re here for a sporting tournament,” he continued.
ICC promises full security
Also, the International Cricket Council (ICC) promises to provide full security to all the teams travelling to the country.
“We operate on advice from our Tournament Security Directorate – in conjunction with the ECB and relevant authorities – to ensure that we have a robust safety and security plan for both tournaments,” cricket’s world governing body said in a statement.
India plays their first game of the tournament on June 4 against arch-rivals Pakistan. The pitch in England seems to be flatter aiding high scoring matches and thus all the games of the tournament will be exciting given the power hitters who are spread across teams.
