The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has issued a press release stating that captain Virat Kohli can still be a part of the ongoing Ranchi Test. Reports had flooded the media that Kohli has been ruled out of the ongoing Test following a shoulder strain that he sustained during the day 1 play of the Test. Many reports had further elaborated the injury to be a severe one and hence there were dark clouds about his participation in the Dharamsala Test as well.

Now, as per the most recent press release, the BCCI medical team has confirmed that Kohli is undergoing the treatment that will help him in a speedy recovery. “The BCCI Medical Team confirms that Indian Captain Mr. Virat Kohli is presently undergoing treatment to recuperate from a strain in his right shoulder,” read the press release.

Also, the statement gave the fans a sigh of relief as it indicated that there are no severe concerns that will restrain Kohli from recovering fast. “Relevant investigations have revealed that there are no serious concerns, which will hamper his speedy recovery from a strain in his right shoulder due to a fall while fielding on Day 1 of the third Paytm Test against Australia in Ranchi.”

The board and the management are leaving no stone unturned in trying to get their numero uno batsman fit for the remaining of the Test series. “He will continue to receive treatment, which will assist him to participate in the rest of the match.”

Virat Kohli had injured himself in the second session on day 1. It was a drive from Peter Handscomb to mid wicket off the bowling of Ravindra Jadeja that saw Kohli involved in a stiff chase. Kohli managed to pull the ball before hitting the boundary ropes but in the process landed heavily on his right shoulder in the dive. He was seen in severe pain and had to walk out of the park after that. He did not return on the field of play for the remainder of the day and Ajinkya Rahane captained the side on the day.
