Virat Kohli in touching distance to become fastest to hit 200 boundaries in T20I cricket
Kohli- 59 away to surpass Dilshan in T20I cricket
As India lock horn with the demoralised Kangaroos at Ranchi for the 1st T20I at Ranchi, yet another special landmark awaits for Indian captain Virat Kohli as the chase master is just four boundaries away to become the fastest batsman to reach 200 boundaries in T20I cricket.
Currently, Kolhi has hit as many 196 boundaries in his T20I career. Only Afghanistan’s Mohammad Shahzad and Sri Lankan legend Tillakaratne Dilshan have managed to achieve the milestone of 200+ boundaries.
Also, the Indian all format captain has eight innings in hand to achieve this feat. Furthermore, Kohli is just 59 runs short of Tillakaratne Dilshan’s tally of 1889 T20I runs, to become the second highest run-getter in T20I cricket. He would only be behind New Zealand stalwart Brendon McCullum‘s tally of 2140 runs.
Virat Kohli has been lukewarm recently since the century in the First ODI against England back in January at Pune. where he helped India chase down a monumental target of 350+ along with prominent innings from Hardik Pandya and Kedar Jadhav.

Kohli had an average Test series against Australia and then wasn’t quite himself in the IPL which followed. VK- the king of centuries in a chase, only managed four centuries in all format but only was able to bring up centuries against weaker oppositions such as Sri Lanka and West Indies.
With the last ton against Sri Lanka, he now has 30 ODI tons in his kitty. Only the Master Blaster, Sachin Tendulkar has been able to cross the 30 ODI tons. By the looks of, Kohli has got his eye in for yet surpassing the tally of Sachin Tendulkar in terms of tons if not by a number of runs.
Only time will tell if, the number one ranked batsman in both ODIs and T20Is would be able to achieve the glorious feat of fastest to 200 boundaries today against Australia.
