And the whole team including Virat Kohli would like to maintain this winning momentum when they travel for the overseas tour, especially a Test series win in South Africa and Australia would really boost up the confidence of the side. Kohli and Co. are currently playing a three-match Test series against the Lankans at home. They have a pretty busy schedule in the coming year, which includes the long tour to South Africa which everyone is looking forward with a close eye. The Indian captain also had a talk with the BCCI regarding the other overseas tour in 2018, especially the tour to England, which is scheduled to start after the completion of IPL 2018.
Preparation time is important for overseas tours
Kohli wants his boys to get sufficient amount of preparation time for the coming overseas tour, which is why he wants the coming edition of the IPL to end as sooner as possible. The No 1 Test side will lock horns with English team from July next year in a tour comprising of 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 5 Test matches. As per reports by DNA, the captain wants his men to get atleast two weeks in order to prepare for the above series, the point which he discussed with Committee of Administrators (COA) along with head coach Ravi Shastri and former captain MS Dhoni.
Everyone including some former cricketers has agreed with the Indian skippers on questioning the board on the busy scheduling before the important tour to South Africa, later this month. The final T20 of the three T20s against Sri Lanka will start on December 24. And the first Test against the Proteas starts from January 5, so there is a very short time gap between the two series, which adds to the worries of Kohli and his team. In order to avoid these circumstances in future, the skipper wants his side get proper preparation time after the early completion of 2018 IPL edition.
