India hammer New Zealand in the second Test match in Mumbai

The Indian side absolutely destroyed the New Zealand side in the 2nd Test match in Mumbai. The New Zealand side was set a target of 540 for victory in the second innings, and the visitors were rendered clueless by the Indian spin bowling attack.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Jayant Yadav proved to be unplayable. The two bowlers sent down a combined 36.3 overs in the second innings and scalped 8 New Zealand batters. Apart from Daryl Mitchell, who scored a fluent 60, none of the other Kiwi willow wielders could even score a half-century in the second innings.

Also, as many as 7 New Zealand batters failed to score in double digits. The one shining light for New Zealand was Ajaz Patel. The left-arm spinner etched his name in the history books by scalping all 10 wickets to fall in the Indian first innings. Patel troubled the Indian batters in the second innings as well and took a 4-wicket haul.

Mayank Agarwal won the Player of the Match award in the second Test match. While Agarwal scored a 311-ball 150 in the first innings, the right-handed opening batter contributed 62 valuable runs in the second essay as well.
