Virender Sehwag names the players KXIP will pick to bat and bowl in case of a Super Over

The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a witness to a number of games which have gone right down to the wire. There have been several twists and turns which have kept the audience on the edge of their seats. A few games have also gone down to the last ball and the tournament is expected to intensify further as it moves into the business end.

Meanwhile, close encounters also mean that that league might see at least a couple of games that go into the Super Over. Virender Sehwag, the mentor of the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) recently revealed the names of a couple of their batsmen who will take charge in the Super Over. Moreover, he also mentioned the bowler, Punjab will trust to deliver the high pressure over.

“Waise toh bharosa poore team par hai. Magar, Super Over mein opposition jab ban jaye bin bulaya mahman, toh bowling mein utrega Mujeeb Ur Rahman. Aur batting mein hamare do diggaj jo kabhi hote nahi fail, Lokesh Rahul aur humare Boss Chris Gayle,” Virender Sehwag was quoted as saying by the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) website while answering a question by a fan.

Chris Gayle and KL Rahul have been in bludgeoning in the games they have played. Rahul started the tournament with the fastest-fifty in the history of the league and has given his team brisk start on almost every occasion. Gayle also announced himself with a couple of Player of the Match awards. Mujeeb has been frugal as well with his off-breaks and hence Viru’s choices don’t spring a surprise.

Sehwag has also hinted about Aaron Finch’s selection in the Super Over, doesn’t seem an illogical choice despite his poor run of form. “If we want our campaign to stay on the trail, then obviously we’ll play KL Rahul and Gayle. But if we want to go that extra inch, then we might even throw in Aaron Finch!” Viru added.
