Wahab Riaz and Yasir Shah get involved in an altercation during practice session
Pakistan team is in Australia and preparing for the three-match Test series that starts with the first Test at Brisbane tomorrow. Ahead of the game, the team was playing a game of football as a part of the practice session. During the game things heated up between two of Pakistan’s most important players pace bowling spearhead Wahab Riaz and leg-spinner Yasir Shah.
They were probably playing against each other and had a scuffle which got physical; senior players along with the coach Mickey Arthur got involved immediately and Arthur gave a red card to both the players sending them off the field. Thing are believed to have cooled off soon and there was a review meeting of the team management where the altercation was discussed.
As it appears both the players probably got carried away in the heat of the moment and didn’t realize things went over the line since they have otherwise had warm relations. Talking to a website after landing in Australia Wahab had called Yasir the trump card for the team and said, “I haven’t got any feedback on [Shah] yet, but obviously he’s recovering well. He’s going to be our trump card and we want him to play the first Test match,”
The leg-spinner has a lot of stakes on him as the team looks up to him to lead the bowling charge in the first Test at the Gabba which is a day-night fixture. This will be the second day-night fixture for Pakistan after having won their first encounter against West Indies. The Aussies on the other hand, have played two and won both the matches.
The series is also a great opportunity for them to make northward move in the ICC Test team rankings, if Australia or Pakistan win the series they have a bright chance of moving to the second position in the rankings.
