'Was it lottery based system?' - Twitter question logic as Kuldeep Yadav named player of the match against PBKS
Kuldeep Yadav himself shared the player of the match award with Axar Patel during the post-match presentation.
In a low-scoring game between the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, the spinners had a big part to play when Punjab was rolled up for just 115 in the first innings in their 20 overs by Delhi. The Rishabh Pant-led side won the toss and let Punjab bat first at the Brabourne Stadium. The Punjab side kept losing wickets at regular intervals with Jitesh Sharma being the top run-scorer at 32 off just 23 balls.
Delhi’s three spinners Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, and Kuldeep Yadav were all right on the money and shared six wickets among themselves. Kuldeep finished with 2 for 24 in his four overs and dismissed the lower order of Punjab, Kagiso Rabada and Nathan Ellis in quick time and ensured that the Delhi side was on top.
Axar Patel’s high-quality spell changed the game
Axar was the most impressive among the lot picking up 2 for 10 in his four overs at a stunning economy rate of 2.50. The left-arm spinner bowled some beautiful lines and kept asking a lot of questions to the batters. He picked up the big wicket of Liam Livingstone who can change the game on its head quickly while he also removed the settled batter, Jitesh with some excellent bowling. Delhi chased down the target in 10.3 overs on account of an excellent opening partnership from Prithvi Shaw (41) and David Warner (60*) and the player of the match was surprisingly given to Kuldeep which raised logical questions among the fans.
The fans wanted Axar to win the player of the match for his excellent display of bowling and even Kuldeep mentioned in the post-match interview how his companion Axar played a big part in changing the game in the favour of Delhi with some important wickets.
“I would like to share this award with Axar. He bowled well and took important wickets in the middle,” Kuldeep said after winning the award.
