New Zealand will take on their arch-rivals Australia in the 3rd and the final ODI of the Chappell-Hadlee series on Sunday and it will be a great opportunity for the hosts to bring back the trophy home after getting thrashed at the hands of Australia in their own den very recently. The Kiwis won a nail-biting thriller in Auckland in the series opener followed by a washout in Napier. The opening match saw fortunes fluctuating from one side to other before New Zealand held on to their nerves and clinched a 6 runs victory.

During a press conference on Saturday featuring Australia’s all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and New Zealand opener Tom Latham, Maxwell took up the role of journalist and asked Latham a few questions on the decisive encounter at Hamilton tomorrow. “After a disappointing showing in the Australian series, how important is it for you guys to win the last game of the series?” asked Maxwell.

The other journalists and reporters present there started laughing seeing their conversation. Latham replied by saying tomorrow’s match is obviously an important one and they will want to bring back the series to New Zealand. ”Yeah, obviously, very important, Maxi. We’d really like to have that Chappell-Hadlee [trophy] back so a good performance tomorrow and hopefully we can keep it in New Zealand,” said Latham.

It wasn’t the end of the conversation as Maxwell came up with another interesting question. Comparing Latham to the Australian legend Adam Gilchrist, Maxwell asked, “You’ve been compared to Adam Gilchrist with your wicket-keeping and left-hand opening batsman skills. How does that sit with you right now?” Latham was very surprised to hear the compliment and he replied by saying, “That’s the first time I’ve heard it but I’ll take that.”

Australia, on the other hand, will be eager to level the series in Hamilton and keep the Chappell-Hadlee series at home.
