Watch: Jos Buttler smashes 110m six in the BBL
Buttler was eventually rewarded the man of the match for his sensational effort.
We’ve seen some stupendous and towering sixes from batsmen these days. Players from Chris Gayle to MS Dhoni to Shahid Afridi have had the knack of hitting such powerful cricketing shots. Jos Buttler has also been known for his hitting prowess. In the Big Bash League clash between Sydney Thunder and Hobart Hurricanes, Buttler went on to hit four sixes in an over. This happened in the 12th over as Buttler activated his destructive mode at the behest of Thomas Rogers.
The first ball was a back of a length ball and Buttler dispatched it over long on for a six. The second ball was again swung away, this time for a massive 108 metre six. Rogers managed to give away singles in the next couple of deliveries to lighten the mood. However, Buttler was in no mood to spare as he smashed another six over the deep square leg.
With that he reached his fifty coming from just 35 balls. If the six weren’t enough, Roger had overstepped the line to add up to the disappointment. The free hit delivery was slashed over mid-wicket for the fourth six in the over. The crowd enjoyed their money’s worth as Jos Buttler seemed unstoppable.
The last ball went for a single as Thomas Rogers ended up conceding 28 runs in that over. Buttler was dismissed an over later but he managed to do the damage. Scoring 67(41), he top-scored for the Sydney Thunders as they posted 166/5 in their quota of 20 overs. On the other hand, Thomas Rogers had a poor day on the field as he ended up with figures of 3-0-50-0.
As for the Hobart Hurricanes, they suffered a batting collapse. They never recovered as the team was bundled out for a total of 109. Hobart failed to last even 20 overs. Sydney Thunders clinched a fantastic victory by just 57 runs as Jos Buttler was rewarded the man of the match for his sensational effort.
