The Sydney Thunders and Melbourne Stars went head to head against each other at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The Thunders played really well to post 178/6 with the help of an excellent century from Usman Khawaja (107* off 70 balls), who remained not out from the start till the end of the innings.

Khawaja’s century might be the biggest highlight of the match But, there was a moment in the match which made everyone stand up from their seats. Khawaja could have possibly lost his wicket in the 19th overs of the match as a result of a stunning effort from Kevin Pietersen on the boundary line.

The Thunders were cruising to a win with Khawaja batting well. Russell had just departed in the 18th overs which brought Ben Rohrer at the crease who was also had to depart soon as Boland got rid of him in the next over. Khawaja was the strike to face the next ball. Bolland bowled a full delivery which the batsman lofted handsomely towards long-on.

Kevin standing there kept his eye on the ball and nearly pulled off a blinder. He jumped over the ropes and managed to get hold of the ball which was heading for a six. But KP managed to push the ball inside the ropes at the right time. He lost his balance and stepped on the ad board. However, the replays showed that he had managed to flick the ball inside before toppling over the boundary. He definitely saved five valuable runs with this effort.
